Tirzepatide is the active ingredient in both Eli Lilly's diabetes treatment Mounjaro and its anti-obesity drug Zepbound. Based on that calculation, earnings will be lower by about 13 cents per share, he said, in research published last Tuesday. "Strong demand for Mounjaro & Zepbound can easily pull through in 2H24 and make up for any 1H24 shortfalls." For the week ended April 19, combined prescriptions of Mounjaro and Zepbound rose 63% year over year, according to IQVIA. Wells Fargo Mohit Bansal said he expects investors to look past any Trulicity shortfalls as the focus is firmily on Zepbound and Mounjaro for Lilly's future growth.

REUTERS/Heinz-Peter Bader/File photo Acquire Licensing RightsOct 17 (Reuters) - Russia's parliament starts voting on Tuesday on withdrawing Moscow's ratification of the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty. The CTBT is a 1996 treaty that bans "any nuclear weapon test explosion or any other nuclear explosion" anywhere in the world. It says that the test ban, "by constraining the development and qualitative improvement of nuclear weapons and ending the development of advanced new types of nuclear weapons, constitutes an effective measure of nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation in all its aspects". But the move would provide it with legal cover to test if it wanted to, and some security analysts see a Russian test now as more likely.

REUTERS/Dado Ruvic/Illustration/File photo Acquire Licensing RightsSept 12 (Reuters) - Intel (INTC.O) said on Tuesday it has agreed to sell a stake of about 10% in the IMS Nanofabrication business to Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co (2330.TW). Intel will retain majority ownership of IMS, and the transaction is expected to close in the fourth quarter. "The investment by TSMC we believe also demonstrates the excitement across the whole semiconductor manufacturing ecosystem for the significant opportunity ahead of IMS," Intel vice president of corporate development Matt Poirier said. Intel is building a contract manufacturing business called Intel Foundry Services that competes with TSMC. Intel sold a 20% stake in IMS earlier this year to Bain Capital at the same valuation.

July 18 (Reuters) - Aleph Group Inc said on Tuesday it had filed to withdraw its IPO plans, citing "public interest and the protection of investors," more than a year after the digital advertising firm submitted paperwork to go public. Emerging markets-focused Aleph, which helps large digital platforms connect with advertisers and customers, counts Meta Platforms (META.O), Spotify Technology (SPOT.N) and Microsoft Corp (MSFT.O)-owned LinkedIn among its customers. Founded in 2005 as IMS Internet Media Services, Aleph was valued at $2 billion in 2021 after private equity firm CVC Capital Partners bought a stake worth $470 million. U.S. initial public offerings have seen a recent spurt after more than a year of lull as hefty interest rate hikes and worries of a recession dented investor appetite for new listings. ‘Intel Outside’ is more like it these days
  + stars: | 2023-06-21 | by ( ) www.reuters.com   time to read: +2 min
The cash will come in handy for the company whose “Intel Inside” campaign is part of marketing lore, but the benefits of putting the subsidiary on a path to a standalone future are bigger. IMS dominates a specialized niche of semiconductor manufacturing, making laser-based tools that construct masks used to etch complex patterns on silicon-wafer circuitry. With Intel, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Corp (2330.TW), and others rushing to build plants, there’s plenty of business. Intel’s own ambitious plans, including a recently unveiled $33 billion expansion in Germany, have opened it up to talking with outside investors. IMS might benefit similarly from being outside Intel.

Intel to sell 20% stake in Austrian chip company
  + stars: | 2023-06-21 | by ( ) www.reuters.com   time to read: +1 min
June 21 (Reuters) - Intel (INTC.O) said on Wednesday it would sell one-fifth of its stake in IMS Nanofabrication to private equity firm Bain Capital in a deal valuing the Austrian producer of chipmaking tools at about $4.3 billion. Intel's stake sale of 20% was valued at $860 million, according to Reuters calculations. IMS, which was acquired by Intel in 2015, makes equipment that are critical for companies that make chips. It has delivered a significant return on investment to Intel while growing its workforce and production capacity by four times, Intel said. Bain Capital's investment in IMS will put it in a position to capture significant market share for its tools that are being widely adopted by chipmakers, Intel said.

WASHINGTON, April 20 (Reuters) - Use of the drug misoprostol on its own to terminate pregnancies is on the rise in the United States as providers seek a preemptive alternative while a ban on abortion pill mifepristone is being considered in court. Misoprostol is already part of the only medication abortion protocol approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, but only when taken in combination with mifepristone. The drug, which the FDA first approved in 1988 for gastric ulcers, is often prescribed off-label to treat miscarriages or induce abortions. "If providers are forced to stop providing mifepristone, misoprostol alone is also safe and effective," said Dr. Ushma Upadhyay, a public health professor at the University of California, San Francisco. Because misoprostol is approved for medication abortion in the United States as part of the two-drug combination, prescribing it alone to terminate pregnancies would also be considered off-label.
Fox has argued in legal filings that Dominion’s $1.6 billion damages request is “untethered from reality” and designed to enrich the company’s investors. In Delaware, attorneys are not allowed to speak directly with potential jurors. The streamlined process allows for jury selection to happen more quickly than it does in some other states: Davis has allotted two days. But it also means both sides will have a harder time trying to identify prospective jurors’ political views, which could be relevant in this case, said Gomez. “Will the facts of the case actually matter to them if they have that underlying belief?”The questions are limited to prospective jurors’ experience rather than their attitudes.
